Mohan Kumar Jayathirtha’s Expertise Over 8 years of working experience in Injury biomechanics, Human body modeling, automotive chassis engineering and crash safety testing. Currently, as a Lead Engineer at Autoliv, I am responsible for: - Human Body Model simulations in occupant safety focusing on reclined seating configurations - Effect of adaptive restraint systems on occupants of varied anthropometry. - Injury assessment and analysis of human body models in frontal impact load cases. After completing Masters of Mechanical Engineering program from University of Virginia, I worked as a Lab and Research specialist at the Center for Applied Biomechanics, University of Virginia, focusing on simulating impact tests on human body models, occupant safety testing and Kinematic analysis of crash testing. Research areas included: - Kinematic analysis of occupant response in frontal impact tests while in reclined seating posture through the use of post-mortem human subjects (PMHS) sled tests, - To characterize the force/deformation response of whole lumbar spines to single and multi-direction combined loading by performing experiments using post-mortem human subjects (PMHS) tissue, - Development of morphing methodology for subject specific finite element modeling of femur bone. Prior to joining University of Virginia, I was a part of design and development team at Magna, International where my work extensively involved product design engineering of chassis systems for SUV and sedan size cars. I designed lightweight sheet metal chassis systems that were competent and innovative in terms of crashworthiness, static stiffness, durability, fatigue and manufacturability performances. Abilities: Strong communication skills, demonstrated leadership, effective and collaborating in working with diverse teams, proficient data management, confident decision maker, enthusiastic about challenges! Skills: LS-Dyna, LS Prepost, HyperMesh, HyperView, MATLAB, Catia V5, Product design, CAE Analysis, Geometric dimensioning and tolerances.
